I too was gutted when I heard this. I've listening to Glasgow Walker in my studio the past couple of days, and wondering how John is...like we're best buddies. If I wasn't on this bloody detox I'd raise a glass to you John and your achievements, but it's going to have to be a cup of herbal tea instead. Sorry, seems like such an insult to a man who it's fair to say, enjoyed a good swally or two. So do I come to think of it....

It was really shocking to hear the sad news today - isn't it strange the way it can feel so personal even though you didn't actually know the person - one of the mysteries of the way music touches us, I guess. I was lucky enough to see John Martyn play live a few times in the late Eightes and early Nineties, and they were some of the best, most intimate gigs I've been to. The tragic loss of a true one-off.

The biggest influence music...

The biggest influence musically for me both lyrically and playing wise.

He manifested to express himself, and all we can do is carry on and expand within the depths of his path, so that his pain that he carved out from himself, may you never realize.

Hopefully this world will now learn and grasp a true essence of itself from the original troubadour. Peace be finely with you.

Love you big man and will remember you always

As the saying goes Foy "one door opens and another one slams in your face!". We lost another good 'un in John, a total legend. Jesus mate reading your tales of woe with "Sunny" has made me laugh. I had a 66 Beetle convertible and a mate of mine had a 71 pop-top like yours. It's very hard trying to look like cool surfie type dudes when you're on a road trip to Cornwall from London in November. Greg my Aussie mate in the Combi had cut two holes for his feet out of his sleeping bag so he could drive and I looked like Arthur Daly (but with a Co.Down accent) in a second-hand sheepskin coat I scored on Oxfam. Heaters, a fag lighter and 12volt batteries NOW THERE'S OPTIONS VW!!
